ShiroKuma Health & Fitness is a community-focused gym in the heart of Camberwell, created for people who want a sustainable, long-term approach to health and fitness. Inspired by the Japanese words for “white bear,” symbolising strength, resilience, and calm confidence, ShiroKuma is built on the belief that consistent, well-coached movement is the foundation of lasting progress. The gym provides a welcoming, inclusive environment where training is purposeful, progressive, and designed to support real life.
Your Founders & Coaches
James is a Level 3 CrossFit Coach and is currently completing a Master’s degree in Sports Therapy. He delivers sports therapy–related support within his current scope of practice, working closely with members on injury prevention, movement quality, and rehabilitation-led strength training. His ongoing academic training ensures his coaching remains evidence-informed and continually evolving, allowing members to benefit from up-to-date clinical knowledge integrated seamlessly into their training.
Katherine is a Level 3 Personal Training Coach and Certified Mummy MOT Fitness Professional, with a strong foundation in strength and conditioning and experience across functional fitness coaching. She has previously completed the CrossFit Level 1 Trainer course and brings together formal education, specialist women’s health training, and years of hands-on coaching experience. Her work focuses on bridging the gap between physiotherapy and fitness, helping women build strength safely and confidently through breathwork, core and pelvic floor integration, technical precision, and progressive loading.
Together, James and Katherine share a lifelong passion for learning and a professional approach to coaching that keeps members safe, supported, and consistently progressing toward their goals with confidence.
